Nika Škiljan, DVM

Nika Škiljan, dr.med.vet

Dr. Škiljan has always had a special interest in internal medicine, a field she dedicated herself to early on during her studies. She spent three years volunteering at an infectious diseases clinic, where her passion for comprehensive diagnostics and in-depth patient care truly took root. While she remains open to further specialization, it’s this detailed approach to medicine that continues to inspire her most.

Her love for animals has been a constant throughout her life, with cats holding a particularly special place in her heart. “I grew up surrounded by cats we rescued, fostered, and rehabilitated. They’ve always been a part of my world, and I believe that naturally led me to veterinary medicine,” says Dr. Škiljan. Today, she shares her home with two beloved cats who are an essential part of her daily life.

As a valued member of the BUBA Clinic team, Dr. Škiljan emphasizes the importance of having access to complete diagnostics and treatment in one place, along with a more thorough approach to patient care—something that’s not always possible in smaller practices.

What makes her work truly special, however, are those moments when she’s able to help a sick pet and see the relief on the faces of their owners. “When I help an animal recover and feel the gratitude from both the pet and their human, that’s what motivates me the most. It’s the greatest confirmation that I’m doing what I love,” she concludes.
